Years active: 1991 - present
Igor Dinga, founder and initial vocalist of the band formed CUIBUL in 1991 as a rock'n'roll funk fusion band. It quickly became a cult music group for the underground scene in post-Soviet Moldova.
In over 25 years, CUIBUL moved from electrics to acoustics and back, from p-funk to latino, from folk to groovy, from male to female vocals, etc. Today, the experiments continue while the musicians mature along.
Cuibul is widely regarded as an important contributor to the Moldovan live music industry, being the most longevive amongst the still active bands from Moldova.
Notable performances include opening the Moscow shows for Morcheeba and The Cardigans, as well as headlining the Eurovision Song Contest interval act at the Moldovan National Final.
