“You’re driving too slow, It’s making me sick. What the hell are you waiting for?” Moto, Diet Pill (2010)
Diet Pill – a riot grrrl brand from Russia, formed back in 2005 by the group of friends: Jannet – Drums, Olga – Bass, Tamara - Guitar. The name “Diet Pill” was taken as an inspiration from the legendary L7 song. With the first show in 2006, the band rocked the stages of Russia, touring all around the country.
Inspired by 90-s grunge and 70-s garage rock, girls focused on delivering true emotions on stage. They claimed the world may be not as good as it is portrayed. It may hurt, really hurt and hit hard.
“No hope. No Fear. No pain. No Love. No need to pretend that everything is great” Unhuman, Diet Pill (2010)
“When I’m dying alone – no one is going to hold my hand. When I’m dying alone – Bang!” Popular Girl, Diet Pill (2010)
2010-s were a transitional period in band musical activity. Olga has temporarily left the stage and Diet Pill was joined by Petr - bass (Prestupniki) and Ruslan-guitar (ElectricJezuz). Together with the guys Diet Pill released the 6-songs EP “Happy”, featuring the powerful tracks “Gone” and “Waterson”. The songs followed the similar grunge/riot/garage pattern and spread the idea that life and love are not only colored with pink, but more often with dark red.
“All people. They try to save my soul, they try to save my soul. I don’t need that. And I go low”.
Waterson, Diet Pill (2016)
“I am the one. You know the one. Lets have some fun now. With me the one. Yeah.” Gone, Diet Pill (2016)
The further releases EP “In My Room” (2018) and EP “Sad Boy (2019) were followed by the 2 music video releases and the first in bands history UK tour (Jan 2020).
The band is active and working on the new long play that will rock the post-COVID.
