Inspired by the aesthetics of 90s hip-hop and captivated by the 70s r'n'b, funk, and soul, VodomiroV brings a new interpretation to The Charmels' song "As Long As I’ve Got You" — just like many others have done, including Wu-Tang Clan in C.R.E.A.M., or later, El Michels Affair (2009) - C.R.E.A.M. (Cover). The sound of "Inside Me" is resilient, forceful, and quite atmospheric. It plays around with a familiar motif, using timbres of the cult retro synthesizers Oberheim SEM and Yamaha CS-80, but sounding in the style of modern dance electronics. Therefore, its reference to the original composition is only intuitive.
The remix from techno-minimal producer Mr. Pepper sounds softer and hypnotizes with Aspen's voice: "Drought, rain, cold, sandstorms, but all the weather is inside me, and I create it myself." Mr. Pepper is known for his releases Phi Ratio on the Rockets & Ponies label, founded by Timo Maas, and Bodykey and Big Groove, which were highlighted in the top charts on BBC Radio1 by Carl Craig.
Pheek, a Canadian founder of the Archipel label, and Suade, founder of the UK label Adapted Vinyl, also worked on the sound. The cover photo was taken during a prayer on the sacred mountain Abang (Bali Island).
