Tötal Harmönic Distörtion (also known as T.H.D.) is a Ukrainian progressive thrash metal band founded in 2005 in Kyiv. The core of the band consisted of Maksym Gerasymchuk and Oleksa Kenda on guitars, and Rostyslav Yagodka on drums. Initially, several vocalists and bass players were joining and leaving the band.
The band began with writing some original material, and performing various cover songs at local gigs. In result T.H.D. have earned themselves a solid reputation among Ukrainian metal fans. Oleksii Prusov (ex-Infected, ex-DAZ Machine) became the band’s bass-player in 2009. Two years later, in summer 2011, the band's line-up became stable, when the new frontman joined Tötal Harmönic Distörtion. It happened to be Octav Casian (ex-Accident/Axident, ex-Tons of Powder, ex-Inaera, Mosh Guerrilla) from Moldova. Surprisingly, T.H.D. met him at Hellfest Open Air Metalfest in France, which they attended as fans.
The first live performance of the new line-up took place in Kyiv in the end of 2011, and received many positive reviews. Immediately after that, the band started recording new demos, meanwhile playing a series of gigs in Ukraine and Moldova.
On 23rd of September 2014, the first single entitled "All Reasonable" became available on band's Soundcloud page. The song’s lyrics about the so-called "media wars" brought some popularity to the band in social media, and afterwards, together with bands like Megamass, Morhpine Suffering and Jinjer, Tötal Harmönic Distörtion were nominated for the Best Ukrainian Metal Act 2014 (annual live competition).
After a period of looking for deals with specialized record labels, the band decided to self-release its debut album, entitled “Madkind”. This happened on 27th of October 2015. Oddly enough, it was an international recording experience, all the instrumental parts tracked in Kyiv/Ukraine, and all the vocals recorded in Chisinau/Moldova. The album includes 11 original songs having elements of the past, present and potential future music style of Tötal Harmönic Distörtion.
